We've been getting a bunch of questions lately and you know what - they're tiny little nuances that we're committed to resolving in the product so that this page becomes completely redundant!
So here is the low down.
1. I signed up for a trial and now I cant use my AppSumo Code
2. I cant get the extension to work... I tried everything
3. Can I move the feedback bubble?
4. Now that I have the widget installed, How do I use it?
5. Argh! I can't scroll on the page! How do I get a full page of feedback?
6. My screenshot doesn't display correctly / some CSS elements are missing from my screenshots
7. I don't like the bubble or the text button, can I link Userback to my own custom button?
8. What features are you working on?
1. I signed up for a trial and now I cant use my AppSumo Code
All good - Just email us @ contact@userback.io with the email address you used to sign up to Userback and the AppSumo Code, we'll sort it out for you on our end.
Alternatively if you don't mind using a different email address to sign up to Userback, head to https://www.userback.io/appsumo and sign up for a new account using your AppSumo code. Remember, if you're using Gmail, you can just use a + eg. cool+userback@gmail.com
2. I cant get the extension to work... I tried everything
Lets start with the process of getting it working:
1. Install the extension to the browser
2. If you weren't directed to the extension settings, click the Userback extension and it will prompt you to enter an account key:
Don't have your key? Click the link, login into Userback and it will give you the key to paste in here.
3. In Userback, head to the Extension menu:
4. Scroll down to step 3 in the extension menu and when you signed up you should have added a project. Click the blue plus button to start adding your domains you would like the widget to display on.
Activate on any domains will be checked by default so disable this if you don't want Userback showing on every single page you Visit.
5. Now go and test your feedback widget! Just to be clear here, you need to click the widget (not the extension) - I feel this should be bold because we've seen a few users clicking the extension rather than using the widget that is displayed.
Troubleshooting: If the widget is still not displaying at all, try clearing your cache in the browser and try again. Also worth trying incognito mode to see if there is a potential conflict within your browser.
3. Can I move the feedback bubble?
You sure can!
To change any of the widget settings, including the location and bubble / text button styles, head to your project dashboard then click settings and click the 'Edit Widget' button on the right.
This will guide you through the widget settings including the location of the widget and stacks of other options.
4. Now that I have the widget installed, How do I use it?
Glad you asked, this is the main purpose of the app right?
1. Click the widget button/bubble
2. If you're annotating and providing multiple comments click the 'Draw on the screen' button
Or the 'Attach a screenshot' link in the comment box
3. Use the annotation tools to mark up the page
4. Click the green tick
5. Complete the main feedback form - fields can be set to be optional.
6. Click Send
Your feedback will now be available inside your Userback dashboard.
5. Argh! I can't scroll on the page! How do I get a full page of feedback?
Quite simply - at this stage, you cant. You will need to leave multiple feedbacks for a long page.
The simple reason for this is that we are unable to cater for all the fancy CSS code that web designers use where they have some elements that move as you scroll and others that are sticky.
We are however, working on a solution that helps reduce the pain of logging multiple feedbacks using the full process. See below in the what we're working on.
6. My screenshot doesn't display correctly / some CSS elements are missing from my screenshots
Check this help doc out: https://help.userback.io/hc/en-us/articles/115001239754-Screenshot-is-not-displaying-correctly
7. I don't like the bubble or the text button, can I link Userback to my own custom button?
Yes! You can. You'll need access to a web developer or have some skill in editing JavaScript code though. We have a pretty robust JavaScript API that you can use to trigger the Userback widget on your own custom buttons and links.
This is especially great if you are already using other platforms like chatbots or help tools and you do not want to clutter your site / app. Check out our API here: https://help.userback.io/hc/en-us/articles/115005681028-Javascript-API
Head to https://www.userback.io and click our 'Contact Us' link in the header to see this in action.
